Nigl

Austria

Weingut Nigl is a family-owned estate in Senftenberg in Lower Austria’s Kremstal, with the Nigl family farming here for over 200 years and running the winery since 1994. Martin Nigl and his son Martin Nigl Jr. lead the estate, combining experience and tradition with a minimalist cellar approach based on stainless steel, ambient yeasts, and gravity handling. The vineyards, including terraced sites between Senftenberg and Krems, are farmed sustainably with no herbicides or insecticides, cover crops of legumes and herbs, and avoidance of copper; the estate is also certified Sustainable Austria. Nigl is especially known for Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, producing wines marked by the Krems Valley’s cool climate, primary rock soils, freshness, minerality, character, and finesse.
