Erich Sattler

Austria

Erich Sattler is a fourth-generation, family-owned winery in Tadten, in Burgenland’s Neusiedlersee region. Erich runs the estate with his wife, Vanessa Knirsch, and serves as its sole winemaker, overseeing both vineyard and cellar work. The vineyards are certified organic and managed without irrigation, using green-harvesting, hand-harvesting, and spontaneous fermentations to support biodiversity and ecological balance. The estate focuses on Zweigelt and St. Laurent, including vines more than 40 years old, alongside Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its wines reflect the region’s gravel soils and Pannonian climate, with a low-yield, hands-on approach throughout.
