Founded in 1859, Louis Jadot is a family-owned Burgundy house with vineyards and sourcing relationships across the region, including Beaujolais and the Côte d’Or. It combines estate-grown fruit with grapes purchased from trusted producers, vinifying on-site rather than buying finished wines. Organic farming is practiced on its certified vineyards. Under chief winemaker Frédéric Barnier, with Jacques Lardière noted for his long tenure, the house balances tradition and technology while seeking a pure expression of terroir. Long macerations, wild-yeast fermentation when possible, restrained new oak, and fresh unoaked styles such as Steel Chardonnay reflect a generally light-handed approach to winemaking.
