Producer

Chiussuma

Italy

Chiussuma is a family-owned producer in Carema, Piedmont, founded in 2016 by Matteo Ravera Chion and his wife Alessandra. Working very small-scale, they farm high-altitude vineyards on hand-built stone terraces, restoring abandoned ancient sites and traditional wooden pergola trellises. Vineyard work is done entirely by hand, with the help of three donkeys. On schist soils at around 350 metres, they follow organic, minimal-intervention practices guided by a philosophy of quiet perseverance. Their wines, focused on elegant, mineral-driven Nebbiolo and blends such as Farinel Rosso, aim to reflect Carema’s distinctive alpine terroir.
