Weingut Schlossmühlenhof

Germany

Schlossmühlenhof is a sixth-generation Michel family estate in Kettenheim, Rheinhessen, with roots dating to 1846 as a rye and wheat mill before turning to viticulture in the 1920s. Today it is run by Gabriele, Walter, and Nicolas Michel, with Nicolas leading cellar and vineyard work after formal winegrowing studies. Farming focuses on ecological health and yield control, including green harvesting, though the estate is not certified organic. The wines aim for the fruity expression associated with Rheinhessen, with hand-harvested fruit, spontaneous fermentation, extended lees aging, and unfiltered bottling. Schlossmühlenhof works with varieties including Scheurebe, Müller-Thurgau, and Gelber Muskateller.
