Massimago

Italy

Massimago is a family-run estate in Mezzane, in the quieter eastern side of Valpolicella, owned by the Cracco family since 1883. Since taking the reins in 2003, Camilla Rossi Chauvenet has led a qualitative renewal of the winery and crafts the wines with a clear focus on parcel expression and elegance. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2014, following fully organic production from 2008, and the estate also adopts biodynamic practices, integrated pest control, manual grass cutting, and biodiversity protection. Sustainability is central, with solar energy, recycled-wood construction, waste recycling, and a naturally ventilated fruttaio for grape drying. Separate vinification of individual parcels, microvinifications, gravity-fed movements, and restrained sulphur use reflect a careful, experimental approach rooted in the character of Mezzane’s varied soils.
