Cockburn's

Cockburn’s is a historic Douro Port house founded in 1815 by the Scottish brothers Robert and John Cockburn, guided by a quality-first philosophy and a long-standing independent streak. Now part of the family-owned Symington Family Estates, fully acquired in 2010, it is known for questioning Port conventions, declaring Vintage Ports on its own terms and working to rediscover the style of its great historic vintages. Quinta dos Canais is its principal estate, and the house has been associated with the renowned blender John Henry Smithes. Cockburn’s also combines tradition with modern practice, from B Corporation certification and satellite-guided harvesting to temperature-controlled crushing, while its working lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia remains notable for its in-house team of coopers.
