Grüner Veltliner

Producer

Dürnberg Direkt

Austria

Dürnberg Direkt is a family-run boutique producer in Austria’s Weinviertel, Niederösterreich, led by members of the Dürnberger family with Georg Klein and Matthias Marchesani, while winemaking is overseen by Michael Preyer, a Weinviertel native closely tied to Grüner Veltliner. The estate is positioned around sustainable production, with organic, Sustainable Austria, and vegan certifications. It focuses on Grüner Veltliner and Burgundy varieties from high-altitude vineyards, offering Grüner Veltliner in several styles, from light, fresh expressions and classic stainless steel-aged wines to more powerful reserve bottlings aged in large used wood. Some releases are also presented as low-intervention or natural wines. Its labels also pay tribute to the region’s long winegrowing tradition, including an excerpt from a wine law book dating to 1309.
