Innocent Bystander

Australia

Innocent Bystander is a Yarra Valley-born wine brand in Victoria known for an unpretentious, outsider spirit. Founded by Phil Sexton and made with Steve Flamsteed, it focuses on approachable, honest wines for sharing, while also leaving room for small experimental releases and new ideas. Grapes are sourced from cool-climate regions including Yarra Valley, King Valley, Tasmania, and Heathcote, with fruit-led styles shaped by curiosity and a willingness to break with convention. The label was sold to family-owned Brown Brothers, while Giant Steps and the Healesville winery, tasting room, restaurant, bakery, and coffee bar remained separate.
