Domaine du Cros

France

Family-owned Domaine du Cros is run by Philippe and Julien Teulier in Goutrens, at the heart of Aveyron’s Marcillac appellation. The Teulier family has tended the estate for generations, with Philippe expanding the vineyards since 1982. Vines grow on steep terraces of red sandstone “rougiers” and limestone scree, under the influence of Mediterranean, continental, and oceanic climates. The domaine’s defining grape is the rare Fer Servadou, locally known as Mansois. Farming is described as reasoned, with minimal treatments, though the estate is not certified organic. Traditional winemaking includes long maceration, gravity-flow handling, and maturation in large, old foudres and casks. Its wines range from supple, berry-fruited bottlings to more structured, spicy cuvées from old vines.
