Founded in 1981 by John Scharffenberger in Mendocino County’s Anderson Valley, Scharffenberger Cellars crafts méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines marked by balance, richness, vibrancy, creamy textures, lively bubbles, and complexity. Its estate is sustainably farmed and Fish Friendly Farming certified, with 63 acres protected through a conservation trust. The winery also supplements estate fruit with contracted vineyards and maintains a reserve program using solera blending. Since 2004, it has been owned by Maison Louis Roederer and forms part of the Roederer Collection. Winemaking is led by Jeffrey Jindra, who took over in 2018, following Tex Sawyer.
