Domaine Amirault

France

Domaine Amirault is a family-owned estate in Bourgueil, in the Loire Valley, founded by Yannick Amirault in 1977 and co-managed with his son Benoît since 2003. Its vineyards in Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil have been certified organic since 2009, following the elimination of synthetic inputs in 1997. Vineyard work follows a lunar calendar, with hand-picked, multiple-pass harvesting. In the cellar, Yannick and Benoît use indigenous yeasts and open oak vats, then age the wines in neutral vessels, using new oak only sparingly to replenish stock. The estate’s approach emphasizes organic farming, careful manual work, and restrained, traditional élevage.
