Château Lascombes

France

Château Lascombes is a historic Margaux estate and 1855 Second Grand Cru Classé, located on gravelly hilltop terroirs in Margaux-Cantenac. Since 2022, it has returned to family ownership under Gaylon Lawrence Jr., with Axel Heinz leading the estate alongside Delphine Barboux. The current direction emphasizes typicity, singularity, and respect for terroir, with high-precision viticulture, manual harvests, cover crops, green manures, and agroforestry to support biodiversity. Since the 2023 vintage, the cellar approach has shifted toward gentle infusion-style extractions, parcel-specific macerations, and élevage in barrels, foudres, and amphorae. The estate also draws on old vines for massal selection and has introduced La Côte – Lascombes, a single-parcel Merlot from a rare blue-clay site.
