Il Chiosso is a family-owned winery in Gattinara, Alto Piemonte, founded in 2007 and run by the Arlunno and Cambieri families across three generations. Working with the local varieties Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Uva Rara, it focuses on traditional wines from historic crus and appellations including Gattinara DOCG, Ghemme DOCG, Fara DOC and Colline Novaresi. Its vineyards lie on the fluvioglacial and mineral-rich hills around Gattinara, Ghemme and Fara, where differing soils help shape the wines’ character. Nebbiolo is vinified in purity for Gattinara, while Ghemme may include Vespolina. The winery emphasizes cultivation in respect of nature and its rhythms, avoiding insecticides, using antagonist insects for pest control, limiting additives and preservatives, and employing inert gases during winemaking.
