Producer

Champalou

France

Didier Champalou is a family-run, independent domaine in Vouvray in the Loire Valley, founded by Catherine and Didier Champalou in the early 1980s and now led day to day by their daughter Celine. The estate focuses entirely on Chenin Blanc, producing Vouvray in styles ranging from sparkling and dry to demi-sec, moelleux and, when conditions allow, sweet wines. Sustainable farming is central here: the domaine is certified Terra Vitis and Haute Valeur Environnementale, is moving toward organic certification, and uses biodiversity-focused practices, hand harvesting, cover crops, limited tractor passes and lunar-calendar methods. In the cellar, fermentations are natural and adapted to each terroir and vintage, with an emphasis on freshness, balance and the elegant expression of Chenin.
