Loosen Bros represents the Mosel estate of Dr. Loosen, a family-owned property held for over 200 years and led by Ernst F. Loosen since 1988, with Berni Schug as winemaker. In the Central Mosel, the estate works with old, often ungrafted vines in historic Grosse Lagen sites, guided by a philosophy that great wine should express soil, climate and grape variety. Since 1988, its classified sites have been bottled as single-vineyard Rieslings, with other wines released as Gutsriesling. A VDP member since 1993, the estate also follows sustainability-minded practices including avoiding chemical fertilisers, limited organic inputs, recycling, energy efficiency and gentle cellar handling, without formal certification.
