Bloomer Creek is a family-owned, boutique winery in New York’s Finger Lakes, founded and operated by winemaker Kim Engle and Debra Bermingham, with assistance from Katy Koken. Its vineyards lie on the west side of Cayuga Lake and east side of Seneca Lake, where organic farming avoids herbicides, insecticides, and irrigation. Previously NOFA-NY certified for ten years, the estate is converting acreage back to organic methods and aims for full biodynamic conversion. The winery makes small-quantity, low-intervention wines with native yeasts, whole-cluster fermentation, extended lees aging, and limited unfined and unfiltered bottlings. Its distinctive, age-worthy Rieslings, Gewürztraminers, and Cabernet Francs emphasize terroir and experimentation.
