Família Carvalho Martins is a four-generation family producer based at Quinta Vale do Olmo in Mêda, in the Douro Superior. The estate’s vineyards, planted on schist with traces of granite at elevations of roughly 530–600 metres, include old vines and indigenous Douro varieties. A very dry climate, low rainfall and marked day–night temperature variation help preserve acidity and freshness while contributing minerality. After years of selling grapes to established Douro houses, the family’s siblings reunited in Mêda and built a winery to oversee the full winemaking process. Their wines, made under the Golpe and Pacto labels, aim to express the estate’s terroir through minerality and freshness, continuing a family legacy rooted in the vineyards and the region.
