Château Unang

France

Château Unang is an independent Ventoux domaine near Malemort-du-Comtat, owned and run by Scottish couple James and Joanna King since 2001. Surrounded by oak forest and sheltered from the mistral, its east- and south-facing vineyards sit on the distinctive sandy-over-limestone soils known as les sables d’Unang. The estate has been certified organic since 2012–13, with all grapes hand-harvested, and is developing regenerative and biodynamic practices through cover crops, soil-focused treatments and biodiversity conservation. James oversees winemaking, while Joanna contributes to marketing, with the couple managing the production from vine to bottle. Primarily based on Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, the wines emphasize the estate’s cooler setting, low yields, balance and expression. The property’s history reaches back to at least 867.
