Château Barbanau

France

Château Barbanau is a historic, family-run estate in Roquefort-la-Bédoule, between Cassis and the Côtes de Provence, with vineyards in both appellations. Restored by Lucien Cerciello and his wife in 1989, it was revitalised by Romain Tchenio in 2022, with Sophie Simonini Cerciello continuing the family involvement. Certified organic since 2008 and biodynamic since 2018, the domaine follows a low-intervention approach: natural grassing, limited ploughing, sheep grazing, hand harvesting, and hedges, windbreaks and melliferous plants to support biodiversity. Romain leads winemaking with indigenous yeasts, gentle pressing and restrained extraction, aiming to preserve freshness and terroir expression. The wines are made without animal-derived inputs and are suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets.
