Cascina Ca' Rossa

Italy

Cascina Ca' Rossa is a family-owned winery in Canale, in Piedmont’s Roero, founded by Alfonso Ferrio in the 1960s and now run by Angelo Ferrio with his son Stefano, continuing a multi-generational project. The estate has been organically certified since 2012 and farms without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers, using green harvest and green manure to support soil fertility and safeguard the territory. Its vineyards, including Mompissano, Le Coste and Valmaggiore, sit high on the hills with south and south-west exposures, often requiring manual work. The varied sandy, marl and calcareous soils of Roero shape wines that aim to express their individual sites. The style is described as honest, clean and sincere, balancing tradition and innovation.
