Alvar de Dios

Spain

Alvar de Dios is an independent family-owned project in Castilla y León, led by owner-winemaker Álvar de Dios Hernández. Working across El Pego, El Maderal and Villadepera in Zamora, he farms organically and biodynamically, with hand harvesting, horse work and indigenous yeasts, although no formal certification is noted. The estate is rooted in vineyards inherited in 2008, with the winery established in 2014, and includes old and even centenarian vines. Guided by respect for the land, tradition and terroir, the wines are made to express place without artifice, often without filtration or clarification. The project also focuses on recovering native varieties and traditional techniques, while supporting local artisans and rural communities.
