Quinta do Vale Meão is a historic family estate in the Douro, at Vila Nova de Foz Côa, founded by Antónia Adelaide Ferreira in 1877. It remains in the hands of her descendants, the Olazabal family, with Francisco "Xito" Olazabal leading the winemaking. The vineyards are planted to traditional Douro varieties and span schist, granite and alluvial soils, with the estate focused on expressing the originality and complexity that come from separate vineyard blocks and varied geology. Winemaking combines traditional lagares with modern technology in restored historic cellars. The estate also receives visitors for guided tours and tastings. No sustainability certifications are reported.
