Maculan is a family-owned winery in Breganze, Veneto, founded in 1947 and now run by the third generation. Its vineyards lie within the Breganze DOC, on mainly hilly, south-facing volcanic soils near the Asiago Plateau. Fausto Maculan took over in 1973 and redirected the estate from quantity toward quality through study and experimentation; today, daughters Angela and enologist Maria Vittoria are part of the management and winemaking team. The winery combines local varieties such as Vespaiola and Tai with international grapes, and is particularly known for Torcolato, a passito wine rooted in Breganze tradition. Its style emphasizes a careful balance between sweetness and freshness. Sustainability is explored through a two-and-a-half-hectare planting of disease-resistant PIWI varieties, alongside ongoing technological innovation and respect for family tradition.
