Domaine Marcel Deiss

France

Domaine Marcel Deiss is a family-owned estate in Bergheim, Alsace, founded in 1947, with family vineyard roots dating back to 1744. Jean-Michel Deiss and his son Mathieu lead the domaine, which is known for a deeply terroir-driven philosophy: the belief that place matters more than grape variety. Certified organic by Ecocert since 1997 and biodynamic by Demeter, the estate works with low yields, living soils, agroforestry, biodiversity, and no synthetic products. Its signature approach is complantation, the traditional Alsatian practice of mixing grape varieties within a single site to express terroir. The wines are shaped by biodynamic farming, minimal intervention, indigenous yeasts, and unfined, unfiltered vinification.
