Domaine de la Pirolette

France

Domaine de la Pirolette is a historic Saint-Amour estate in Beaujolais, dating to 1600 and named after the white Pirole flower. Taken over in 2013 by Grégory Barbet, his sisters and co-owners, it is known as “the passionate bunch,” reflecting the people’s enthusiasm for wine. Its 15 hectares are grouped around the property on south- and south-east-facing sites, with varied soils including sandstone and blue stones, clay, and deep altered pink granite. The most emblematic parcels—including Le Carjot, La Poulette and La Pirolette—are vinified separately to express their individual terroirs. The estate represents a new generation of winemakers and is particularly associated with highly regarded Saint-Amour wines, including single-plot cuvées from pink granite soils.
