Germany

Carl Ehrhard is a family-run Rheingau estate in Rüdesheim, managed by Carl and Petra Ehrhard with their three daughters. Working old-vine Riesling and Pinot Noir from several Rüdesheim sites, the estate has been organically certified since the 2022 harvest and combines dry farming, hand-picking and careful vineyard work. Its wines are made in a historic vaulted cellar using traditional basket pressing, spontaneous fermentation and extended lees ageing, primarily in 1,200-litre German oak casks, with some stainless-steel and smaller-barrel élevage. Parcel-specific bottlings highlight differences between sites, while minimal filtration and occasional unfiltered bottling reflect a low-intervention approach. The range is predominantly dry or feinherb, with Riesling at its core and Spätburgunder aged in wood.
