Domaine du Cayron

France

Domaine du Cayron is a long-established family estate in Gigondas in the Southern Rhône, run by the fifth-generation Faraud sisters, Delphine, Cendrine and Roselyne, with guidance from their father Michel Faraud. Founded in 1840 at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the domaine farms parcels across the Gigondas appellation on clay marl, limestone, sandy and stony soils, including older vines. The estate focuses exclusively on Gigondas red, made in a traditional style with hand harvesting, no destemming, parcel sorting, indigenous yeasts, fermentation in concrete, and aging in old oak foudres. All estate fruit is blended into a single cuvée. The domaine is also described as following sustainable farming practices, though no certification is mentioned.
