Domaine de la Bongran is a family-owned estate in Quintaine, within Viré-Clessé in Burgundy, managed by the Thévenet family. Jean Thévenet took over in 1972, and his son Gautier has led viticulture and winemaking since 2000, with Jean still involved. The vineyards are certified organic by Ecocert, with no chemicals used, and lie on Oxfordian white marls, Bathonian limestone, and clay-limestone soils. Grapes are hand-harvested at low yields and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Jean and Gautier age the wines in stainless steel without oak, emphasizing a hands-on, traditional approach.
