La Perla di Marco Triacca

La Perla di Marco Triacca is a generations-old family winery in Valgella–Tresenda di Teglio, Valtellina, specializing in mountain viticulture. Its 3.5-hectare, south-facing vineyard lies at about 400 metres on terraced, glacial soils, and was established as Valtellina’s first contour-planted (“girapoggio”) vineyard in the 1980s. Nebbiolo and the increasingly rare local Pignola Valtellinese are cultivated with a focus on biodiversity and the landscape. The vineyard is grassed, herbicides are avoided, pest control uses sexual confusion, and chemical inputs are minimized. The winery also employs photovoltaic, geothermal, and heat-pump technologies. Nebbiolo is harvested at three stages to produce distinct wines, while Pignola is made as a white and sparkling wine. Total production is approximately 20,000 bottles annually.
