Domaine G. Roumier

France

Domaine G. Roumier is a family-owned Burgundy estate based in Chambolle-Musigny, founded in 1924 and still led by the third-generation Roumier family. Georges Roumier established the domaine in the Côte de Nuits, and the estate has since passed through Jean-Marie to Christophe Roumier, with Delphine Roumier overseeing administration and distribution. The domaine is rooted in prized premier and grand cru sites and is known for very limited production. Farming is near-organic in practice, with chemical fertilizers abandoned in 1988, herbicides in 1989, and an ongoing focus on compost, ploughing, manual harvests, and ecosystem balance without formal certification. In the cellar, the approach is restrained and terroir-led, using partial destemming, indigenous yeasts, gentle maceration, and limited new oak to let each site speak clearly.
