Domaine du Haut Bourg

France

Domaine du Haut Bourg is a fourth-generation family estate run by brothers Hervé and Nicolas Choblet in Bouaye, south of Nantes, in the heart of Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu. First Muscadet vines were planted here in 1944, and the domaine remains closely managed by the two brothers, who oversee the winemaking themselves. Farming is environmentally focused: the estate has been Terra Vitis certified since 2015, follows reasoned viticulture, and includes organically certified parcels, with Domaine H&N Choblet certified organic since 2023. The vineyards benefit from the microclimate around Lac de Grand-Lieu, with south-facing gravelly soils and some old Muscadet vines. The domaine produces Muscadet, Gros Plant, and other still and sparkling wines, with lees ageing an important part of its style.
