Cavalchina is a family-run estate in Verona’s Veneto, owned by Franco and Francesco Piona and rooted in the Piona family’s wine history since 1900. Founded in 1948, it was among the first producers to call the area’s white wine “Custoza” in 1962, helping establish the name. The estate combines careful, low-yield viticulture with modern cellar technology: grapes are hand-harvested in multiple passes and only the best clusters are selected for vinification. Inter-row grasses, gentle tillage and biodiversity are part of its integrated, sustainable farming, certified by SQNPI, alongside broader Equalitas sustainability commitments. Under winemaker Erica Nasso, Cavalchina’s wines aim to express their vineyards and Custoza identity while balancing traditional craftsmanship with appropriate technological precision.
