De Wetshof Estate

South Africa

De Wetshof Estate is a third-generation, family-owned winery in South Africa’s Robertson Valley, run by brothers Johann and Peter de Wet with their father, Danie, remaining chairman and senior winemaker. Its vineyards are devoted predominantly to white wines, especially Chardonnay, alongside Méthode Cap Classique. Peter de Wet, a Geisenheim-trained oenologist with Champagne experience, oversees winemaking. The estate combines computerised irrigation and minimal pesticide use with Certified Sustainable status, WWF Conservation Champion recognition, IPW compliance, and participation in WIETA and Farming for the Future. Its regenerative approach includes protecting wildlife, removing invasive species, planting indigenous trees, and maintaining cover crops.
