Thomas-Labaille

France

Thomas-Labaille is a family domaine in Chavignol, Sancerre, in the Loire Valley, now run by Jean-Paul Labaille, who is both proprietor and winemaker. Founded in the early 1950s by Claude Thomas, the estate includes vineyards in Chavignol and Sury-en-Vaux, notably parcels on the steep Kimmeridgian slopes of Les Monts Damnés. Farming is organic in practice, with no herbicides or chemical fertilizers, hand harvesting, mechanical soil work, and a broader sustainable, lutte raisonnée approach. The domaine focuses on terroir expression, harvesting Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in optimal conditions and vinifying parcels separately to preserve aromatic character and authenticity in the glass.
