Jean-François Protheau

France

Jean-François Protheau is associated with Domaine Protheau, a Mercurey estate in Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise. The Protheau family has cultivated vines here since 1720, while the related Maison Protheau négociant business dates to around 1900. The 11-hectare estate is planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with vines averaging 19 years old. The Helfrich family became its owner in 2016. Winemaking is overseen by oenologist Dominique Glardon, with gravity-fed oak ageing. No sustainability certifications or practices are reported.
