Producer

Chateau Musar

Lebanon

Chateau Musar is a family-owned Lebanese producer founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930, with vineyards in the Bekaa Valley and the winery based in Ghazir. The estate remains in Hochar family hands, now overseen by Marc and Gaston Hochar, cousin Ralph Hochar, and winemaker Tarek Sakr, continuing the legacy of Serge Hochar. Its vineyards have been organically managed since the 1960s and formally certified organic in 2006, with manual weeding, hand harvesting, ambient yeasts, low sulphur, and no fining or filtration. Musar is known for a hands-off, minimal-intervention philosophy and for maintaining production through Lebanon’s civil war, a period that helped define its resilient identity and distinctive wines.
