Poderi Rosso Giovanni

Italy

Poderi Rosso Giovanni is a small, family-run estate in Agliano Terme, in Piedmont’s Monferrato, where the Rosso family has cultivated vineyards for three generations. Managed and made by Lionello Rosso, the estate is devoted almost entirely to Barbera and specializes in Barbera d’Asti. The team believes wine is made in the vineyard, with most of its time dedicated to careful vineyard work. Grapes are harvested by hand, yields are reduced, and pruning, canopy and soil management are tailored to each site and vintage. Organic matter is built through cover crops and green manure, while chemical fertilizers and herbicides are not used. The estate is SQNPI-certified for sustainable agriculture. Wines are produced and aged in a historic 1698 cellar and a renovated cellar at Cascina Perno.
