Albariño

Producer

Rodrigo Méndez

Spain

Rodrigo Méndez is a fifth-generation family producer in Meaño, Pontevedra, working through historic Bodegas Forjas del Salnés and his own label. He farms family monopole vineyards biodynamically and organically, using low-intervention methods and reserving copper and sulfur for serious vine-health emergencies. Parcels are distinguished by soil type and vinified separately, expressing a site-focused approach to Albariño. Méndez serves as both owner and head winemaker, producing a limited range of Albariño bottlings alongside the single-vintage O Raio da Vella Tinto. The operation remains small and artisanal, with no formal farming certifications cited.
