Johann Donabaum

Austria

Johann Donabaum is a small, family-owned estate in the Wachau’s Spitzer Graben valley of Niederösterreich. The Donabaum family owns the winery, with Johann Donabaum now holding full operational control as sole winemaker following his father’s handover. Trained at the Krems School of Viticulture and apprenticed at F. X. Pichler, he follows a natural approach using native yeasts, extended lees contact and no fining. The estate uses low-level drip irrigation but has no formal sustainability certification. Alongside its wines, the family runs a seasonal Heurigen.
