Domaine du Coulet

Australia

Domaine du Coulet is a family-owned, seventh-generation estate in Cornas in the Rhône Valley, run by owner-winemaker Matthieu Barret. On steep granitic hillside vineyards, the domaine farms Syrah organically and biodynamically, with ECOCERT certification, dry farming, manual work, and animal traction using mules and horses. Biodiversity is a clear focus in the vineyards. In the cellar, Barret follows a low-intervention approach: gravity-fed handling, gentle extraction, no oenological additives apart from sulfur at bottling, and élevage in stainless steel, concrete, terracotta, and ceramic rather than oak. The aim is to express the Cornas and Côtes du Rhône terroirs with sincerity, purity, and uncompromising typicity.
