Domaine Michel Girard & Fils is a family-owned Sancerre estate in Verdigny, founded by Michel and Annie Girard in 1973 and now run by the second generation. Benoît oversees the vineyards, Philippe the cellar, with Margot and Amandine also involved; the founders remain active. The domaine farms around 20 hectares across diverse Sancerre soils, growing Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Since 2023, the vineyards have been in conversion to organic certification, with mechanical soil work, controlled pruning, disbudding and green harvesting used to protect biodiversity and manage yields. In the cellar, the family aims for low-intervention wines with minimal inputs and natural yeasts, seeking fresh, expressive whites and light, fruit-driven reds that reflect their individual terroirs.
