Domaine de la Bergerie

France

Domaine de la Bergerie is a fourth-generation family estate in Champ-sur-Layon, in the Loire Valley’s Anjou Noir, founded in 1961. Now run by Yves and Marie-Annick Guégniard with their daughters Anne and Marie, the domaine is certified organic by Ecocert and holds HVE 3 certification. Working mainly with Chenin Blanc, alongside Cabernet Franc and other Loire varieties, the family produces wines from Anjou, Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, Quarts de Chaume and Crémant de Loire. Their approach emphasizes organic farming, biodiversity, parcel-by-parcel vinification and élevage adapted to each terroir, with indigenous yeasts and traditional methods. The estate is particularly noted for its dry and sweet Chenin wines, with the latter made through successive selective harvests influenced by botrytis and passerillage.
