Pitars

Pitars is a family-owned winery in San Martino al Tagliamento, at the heart of Friuli’s Grave del Friuli, where vineyards grow in stony soils shaped by the Tagliamento River. With roots dating to 1644, the winery is now run by the third and fourth generations. Its wines express both native and international varieties, including Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Merlot and Refosco. The family combines low-yield vineyards, manual selection and careful maturation of selected wines in barrel and bottle with substantial investment in efficient technology. Sustainability is central: practices include targeted treatments, biological products, pheromone protection, alternatives to herbicides, underground irrigation, renewable energy and heat recovery. The winery itself was built according to bioarchitecture principles, using wood and recyclable materials.
