Ojisan is a small-batch natural wine project in Upper Moutere, Nelson, created as a joint venture between Alex Craighead of Kindeli and Kazuomi Fujimaki of Grape Republic. Its certified organic and biodynamic vineyards occupy a cold, north-facing slope in a windswept coastal setting. The label focuses on low-intervention reds, including Syrah, Merlot and Pinot Noir, made from certified organic New Zealand grapes. With an emphasis on sustainability, minimal winemaking intervention and playful branding that connects New Zealand and Japanese natural wine cultures, Ojisan offers an individual expression of Nelson’s cool-climate vineyards.
