Jean-Baptiste Hardy runs a small, family-owned estate in Mouzillon, in Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. Since taking over in 2018, he has personally overseen all vineyard and cellar work as the estate’s sole winemaker. The vineyards include old Melon de Bourgogne vines, alongside parcels on volcanic gabbro, granite, schist and gneiss soils. Hardy practices organic viticulture and applies biodynamic techniques—including cover cropping, green harvesting, leaf thinning and biodynamic trellising—without formal certification. Trained at the Lycée Viticole de la Loire and through apprenticeships at Domaine Roulot and other renowned estates, he brings a hands-on, individual approach to the family’s Muscadet range.
