Cuore di Marchesa is a boutique, family-run estate on Etna’s northern slope in Solicchiata, Castiglione di Sicilia. Pietro Di Giovanni, Gina di Marco and their daughters Carola and Lea cultivate four hectares of own-rooted vines, many 90–100 years old and some over 125, at around 750 metres on basalt and sand soils. The estate follows organic principles, with some biodynamic practices including green manure, and places emphasis on biodiversity and minimal-intervention winemaking. Pietro Di Giovanni leads the winemaking and also works as consultant oenologist. The family produces around 12,000 bottles annually, including Etna Bianco, with no formal organic certification listed.
