Château de Plaisance is a biodynamic estate in Rochefort-sur-Loire, at the heart of Anjou noir in the Loire Valley. Owned and run by winemaker Vanessa Cherruau, who took over from the Rochais family after six decades of stewardship, the estate farms its Chaume, Quarts de Chaume and Savennières vineyards organically since 1995 and biodynamically since 2008. The vines grow on schist and other varied bedrock, with a focus on Chenin Blanc alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Vanessa’s wines aim to express living soils, place and vintage, including dry Chenin from Ronceray. The estate also emphasizes biodiversity and a reduced environmental footprint, including the use of lightweight bottles.
