Azienda Agricola La Torre

Italy

Azienda Agricola La Torre is a family-run estate in Sant’Angelo in Colle, in southern Montalcino, founded in 1976 by Giuseppe Ananìa and now led by his son Luigi with granddaughter Benedetta. The property was restored from a former sharecropping farm, with the first Brunello bottled from the 1982 vintage. Certified organic since 2016 and noted for sustainable practices, La Torre farms high-altitude southwest-facing vineyards with manual harvests. Luigi’s approach combines agronomic study with local grower knowledge in a style he describes as traditional but not conservative. Fermentations use native yeasts, and the wines are aged mainly in large Slavonian oak casks with limited barrique use, aiming for purity, typicity, and classic Montalcino character.
