Family-owned Weingut Meierer is based in Kesten in the Mosel and is run by winegrower Matthias Meierer, Young Winegrower of the Year in 2008. The estate focuses exclusively on Riesling from steep slate vineyards, particularly Paulinsberg and Paulinshofberg, and handles the full process from vineyard to bottling. Matthias is closely involved in every stage, from pruning and selective hand harvesting to spontaneous fermentation and minimal-intervention cellar work. The wines aim to express vintage character and individual terroir, ranging from dry and feinherb styles to fruit-sweet specialties. The family also works to preserve Mosel’s steep-slope heritage by acquiring and recultivating abandoned parcels.
